Hunter Region & North Coast NSW
The Hunter region is home to some of the best vineyards in Australia. Newcastle is the predominant city within the region, situated 162 kilometres north of Sydney, at the mouth of the Hunter River. The Greater Newcastle area with beautiful beaches and Hunter Valley hinterland includes most parts of the Local Government Areas of City of Newcastle, City of Lake Macquarie, City of Cessnock, City of Maitland and Port Stephens Council.
The North Coast refers to the region adjoining the Pacific Ocean in the north-eastern part of the State of New South Wales. The North Coast has a mild, sub-tropical climate, and is well known for surfing beaches, a holiday lifestyle and beautiful World Heritage listed national parks. Major towns on the North Coast include Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour, Byron Bay, Lismore, Ballina, Grafton, Casino, Evans Head and Murwillumbah.
