Local Information - Central Coast

The Central Coast of New South Wales is located north of Sydney and south of Lake Macquarie. It is an attractive region of bush, waterways and beaches, and is a popular holiday spot as well as a residential area within commuting distance to Sydney. It is especially attractive to retirees, due to it's coastal location and many waterways and recreational activities. The central coast is within easy travelling distance of Sydney and offers more affordable property in attractive surrounds.

Geographically, the Central Coast is generally considered to include the region bounded by the Hawkesbury River in the south, the Watagan Mountains in the west and the southern end of Lake Macquarie in the north. It is administered as two local government areas; City of Gosford and Wyong Shire. The Central Coast is classified as a NSW regional city, along with Wollongong and the Hunter Region, making it a centre for many government services. The largest regional city in the area is Gosford.
